Our Hopewell Junction Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day to meet the needs of our established clients and provide 24-hour care to our hospitalized patients. Anyone with an emergency should call ahead in order to be sure the doctor is notified, and we are best prepared for your arrival.

Poisoning – In the event your pet ingests something toxic, that unique situation is often best handled by someone who specializes in toxicology, so we will ask you to call poison control to speak with one of their specialists. After they get all of the pertinent information from you, they will give you a case number and let you know if your pet needs to see the veterinarian for treatment. Using that case number, our doctor will be able to get specific advice on how best to care for your pet.

Specialty Client – Our doctors are on call for Hudson Highlands General Practice patients 24 hours a day for emergencies. Specialty Practice patients who have been referred by another hospital will be seen only if the emergency is related to recent surgery or visit (all others should call their referring veterinarian).

Exotics Client – If you have a small mammal or reptile that has been seen in our practice by Dr. Furst and you are seeking after-hours care, please call the office to see if he is the on-call doctor that evening. If Dr. Furst is not available we will suggest the closest alternative.

There may be occasions when our technicians will suggest that due to the nature of your emergency that you go to a facility that has a doctor on-premises. If warranted, we will do our best to help you find the closest facility for your particular situation.
